Airline discount and student ticket

If you’re a student 18-22 years old, trying standby flights with Airtran can save you big money.
Ever had to make air travel plans at the last minute? Then you know that purchasing an airfare on the same day that you must travel is generally the most expensive way to go (although that trend is changing with some airlines).
AirTranU program requirements include:
You’re between the ages of 18 and 22. You (or your parents) have at least $69*. For just $69 per segment, or $89 for long-haul segments, you can visit your fellow pledge class friends, wherever they are.
How it works:
·Just walk up to the ticket counter, tell us where you’d like to go, and pay for each flight segment.
·We’ll put your name on the standby list and direct you to the proper gate.
·If a coach seat is available after the final boarding call, it’s got your name all over it.
·You’ll have better luck getting a flight on off-peak days, like Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.
·Other days of the week are more difficult, but feel free to try.

1. Check in for your flight and print your boarding pass on your home computer the night before.
2. Upon your arrival to the airport (especially for a morning flight), skip the departure level. It will be a traffic jam. Remember, you have no baggage to check and you already have your boarding pass. Instead, avoid the people and car traffic and go straight for the arrivals level. First thing in the morning, it’s almost empty (most of the time). Head upstairs and go through security to your gate.
