With the economy the way that it is it seems that the most popular type of vacation at the moment is simply staying at home, the recession has meant that more and more people are cutting back on their discretionary spending. If yours is one of the households there has been making cutbacks then the best idea for a low budget vacation is following a strategy that will make your vacation less expensive but still enjoyable. A good strategy to ensure that you have a good time but not blow the budget is to have fun with inexpensive activities during the daytime so that you have money to splash about with fun night time activities. If you feel that this strategy is not going to suit your style of low budget vacations there are plenty more below read on to find out which best suites you:

Search the web for deals

When searching for deals on hotels or airline tickets it’s not always the best idea to do so over the phone or by turning up in person, often the best deals can be found on the Internet or by seeing a travel agent. If you turn up to a hotel asking for a rate they will assume they have you as a captive market and will therefore charge you the highest rate they have, known as the rack rate, the same sort of thing happens with airline tickets so shopping around will definitely put you in a better position to determine a fair price.

Renting a house or cabin

A great way to get cheap accommodation is by bypassing hotels or motels and seeing if you are able to rent a cabin or house off of someone who lives in the area you are looking to vacation in, if you are going to a popular tourist town they can sometimes be setup for exactly this kind of thing with a website dedicated to matching vacationers with holiday homes.

Traveling at off-peak times

Both airlines and hotels tend to increase their prices around times that they are historically busy, for them this is simply an economic decision to make more money, but for people looking to travel at that time there can be a huge annoyance, the best way of getting around this is by traveling in the off-season. The off-season for a particular location will be determined by what time of year it is most desirable to be there, so for instance the off-season for ski fields is summer and the off-season for beaches is generally winter time.

Create your own meals

Something that seems like a small expense at the time but really adds up as breakfast and lunch, if you are buying both of these meals each day for a two week vacation you could easily blow $400 per person on meals that you could have just as easily prepared yourself. This also goes for drinks and coffees both of which you can either a buy from a supermarket or make yourself in your hotel room.
Using these four simple tips should have been able to find some low budget vacation which will still allow you to have an enjoyable time.

Planning your vacation online can be fun and it can save you money. There are often great discounts offered that you won’t get directly from the location or from a travel agency. You do need to spend some time looking around though. The more flexible your travel dates can be the more money you will save. Many of the sites allow you to compare prices for several airlines and hotels at once. This is going to cut down on the leg work you have to do.

Sign up for alerts from the various sites as well. This way you will be emailed when they have lower prices available. This is a great way to take advantage of the best prices at they become available. If a certain vacation seems too expensive right now you may be able to afford it when you receive such alerts. Look for discount codes as well. If you are checking prices and see a section for a promo code, then they definitely exist and you can find them online to enter for additional savings.

It is a common misconception that the package deals offer the lowest prices. In many cases you can save money by booking the flight, room, and even a rental car all at once. However, that isn’t always the case so make sure you take the time to look into it further. You may discover you can find some great savings by booking each part of your trip separately.

Keep a written log of the prices you find and the sites they are on. You will notice that the prices can change quite often. It can be tempting to book at a price but you may want to wait for it to drop. If your travel dates aren’t for a while then you have plenty of time to find a great price you are happy with. One way to save a ton of money planning your vacation on line is to take what is offered on sale at the last minute. Such deals are offered so that rooms and flight seats don’t go empty.

When you plan your vacation online, make sure you take the time to read all of the details about it. There may be hidden fees or policies that aren’t a good fit for your needs. Make sure you understand about refunds and cancellations as well so you aren’t out the money you paid should you not be able to travel as you had intended.

Chances are you have been working long hours or perhaps raising a family and desperately need some time away, alone. For couples to reconnect, they need to have quality time together, which is why vacations are so important. If you find you are on a budget or simply do not have the time to fly overseas, you will discover a number of excellent vacation options specifically for couples.

In this article, we wanted to provide you with some of these couple’s destinations to consider, places where you can relax, but also enjoy the local culture, needless to say these are not ideal locations forhoneymoon travel, but for those traveling with friends they should be great. Within the United States are literally thousands of possible destinations with rich history, excellent shopping, local cuisine, warm sunny beaches, and hospitable people. The next time you and your spouse decide to take a vacation, consider any of the following destinations within your own country.

Hawaii

Hawaii is rated as the number one destination for couples. Although many couples will stay on Oahu, Honolulu, or Maui, keep in mind that Hawaii has other islands worth exploring. However, if you stay on the Big Island of Oahu, the Fairmont Orchid is a great place to stay.

This hotel offers waterfall gardens, ocean view suites and much more. If you choose the couple’s package, you will be pampered with champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries. Then, you can retreat to the privacy of your room, enjoying a romantic bath of bubbles, salts, and lit, floating candles.

Nashville

Home of the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville is a great couples destination. In addition to visiting the Opry, you can also enjoy riverboat dinners, dancing, and exceptional dining. Most couples who venture to Nashville agree that the capital of country music makes an excellent romantic getaway.

For accommodations, we highly recommend the Hermitage Hotel, which has a long, interesting history. This hotel was named after Andrew Jackson’s home and first opened back in 1908. Many famous people have enjoyed staying at this hotel to include Al Capone and even President FDR. The décor of the Hermitage Hotel is grand, offering a magnificent vaulted stained glass ceiling in the lobby, massage suites, and even 24-hour room service.

Another possible consideration for your vacation in Nashville is the Wyndham Union Station hotel, which was built in 1900. Previously a train station that was converted to a hotel, you will be thrilled with the accommodations. For instance, the lobby features a 65-foot vaulted ceiling with Tiffany stained glass. Other amenities include a central location to many of the downtown attractions, as well as no two rooms being identical.

Las Vegas

Another great couple destination worth noting is Las Vegas. As you can imagine, the opportunities for fun are endless. You could head to any of the casinos, take in a show, or simply enjoy some R&R at the hotel pool. The Venetian Hotel and Casino is a wonderful option that is not only affordable, but also gorgeous and very romantic. Designed to look and feel like Italian architecture complete with gondola rides, the entire experience is steeped in European style. You will find that the Venetian is quiet, making it the perfect destination.

Do you want to plan a family vacation but find the budget tight? If so, you are certainly not alone. We all know the economy is tough right now, making family vacations one of the things that goes first. However, spending quality time together as a family is important and, it does not have to cost much. In fact, as you will discover in this article, many inexpensive family vacation options are available.

•	US National Parks and Forests – With hundreds of incredible options, chances are a national park or forest is located within driving distance from where you life. For something adventurous, consider pitching a tent. While there, you could enjoy any number of inexpensive or free activities such as marked trails, boating, swimming, fishing, horseback riding, or simply sitting in front of a roaring fire at night, roasting marshmallows.

•	Amusement Parks – The country is loaded with amusement parks, both small and large. Again, many are located within your own state or within driving distance. If you go to another city, simply find a low or discounted hotel and treat the entire family to a day of rides, playing games, and enjoying all the park has to offer.

•	Museums – A great way to spend a family vacation is by teaching your children about history. By planning a trip that will incorporate a number of historical museums, you will accomplish this while having fun. Many historical museums feature interesting artifacts that kids love. Additionally, you could visit historical homes, allowing the family to walk through places where famous people actually lived.

•	Relatives – If you are close in heart to relatives, plan the family vacation around family time with relatives. For instance, taking the kids to visit the grandparents allows you some needed downtime while also giving them the opportunity to bond with extended family. You may even have other relatives that live close to one another, making your vacation the ideal time for a family reunion.

•	Ski Trip – Mountains that offer family vacations of skiing are also a great consideration. Even if no one in the family has ever skied before, you could all learn together. If you have children who have never skied, many ski resorts offer free or low priced lessons for kids. Today, ski resorts understand the importance of cost, which is why many are creating special packages specifically for families. This means you get the accommodations and time on the mountain for little money. Some of the best destinations are located in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains to include Copper Mountain, Keystone, Breckenridge, and one of the best, Crested Butte, a location tucked away from the hustle and bustle of most ski resorts.

•	State Capital – If you have only a day or two for your family vacation, you can still make it fun and educational at the same time. For instance, take the family to the state capital. There, they can gain a better understanding of the government for your state. In fact, most state capitals offer free tours, which are great.

Unfortunately, family vacations are often too expensive but they do not have to be. With careful planning and keeping your options open, you can have a great time together without breaking the bank.

Is there any such thing as a perfect vacation? You bet there is but it requires good planning and organization. The vacations that prove to be disastrous, expensive, or simply not fun are those thrown together at the last minute. However, by spending a little bit of time, you can compare prices, check out many different destination options, and end up with a wonderful vacation that you will never forget. The following six tips are just a few that you could consider when planning the perfect vacation.

1.	Options – The first tip to planning the perfect vacation is to keep your options open. In other words, if you had your heart set on a trip to Hawaii, but you find it is outside of your budget, you can still choose a sunny destination with beaches for far less. Instead of zeroing in on a particular destination, think of the type of environment you are most interested in, as well as activities and culture.

2.	Finances – Be realistic about the amount of money you can afford for the perfect vacation. Unfortunately, many people will go on vacation knowing they are spending way over their means, only to return home and find themselves in a financial mess. Obviously, being faced with money troubles will only ruin any of the good memories of the vacation. Instead, determine exactly what you can afford to spend and then choose your destination, accommodations, and other expenses accordingly.

3.	Travel Agency – If you are unsure where to start in planning the perfect vacation, consider working with a reputable travel agency. With this, you can describe the type of vacation and amenities you want, allowing the agent to do the work for you. For individuals who are busy with work or family, using a travel agency helps save tremendous time and effort.

4.	Pet Care – Some people will kennel pets or have someone pet sit while on vacation but today, we see a growing number of individuals who want to include this important member of the family in the vacation. In addition, hotels are now more pet-friendly than ever before. If you want to travel with your pet, make sure the hotel you choose is one that will allow it. In addition, a fee is usually associated with pets in a hotel so always ask about price. Then, if you will be flying with your pet, contact the airlines to determine cost, size/type of the pet carrier needed, and any shots/certifications needed by the vet.

5.	Traveler’s Checks – Although you would likely carry some cash on your perfect vacation, we strongly recommend that you purchase American Express traveler’s checks, which are accepted just about anywhere. That way, if your purse, wallet, or luggage with the checks inside were stolen, you would be reimbursed immediately after contacting the American Express office so you are not left out in the cold.

6.	Travel Insurance – Typically, people traveling within the United States do not purchase travel insurance but you might consider it. This type of insurance is beneficial if you were injured while on vacation. With this, you would be covered for treatment at any hospital. Again, it is often not needed for US travel but it is worth investigating.

Who says the United States is not a romantic destination for honeymooners? Typically, we think of Paris, France, Jamaica, Greece, or other overseas destinations when it comes to honeymoons. However, right here in America, you will find some very romantic honeymoon destinations. Considering you have 50 states from which to choose, you will actually feel a little overwhelmed with all the possibilities once you start your research. To help you get started, we have provided a list of some possible honeymoon destinations to consider.

•	Hawaii – This number one honeymoon destination has long been a favorite. With a tropical climate, breathtaking topography and waterfalls, and beautiful customs, it is no wonder married couples love Hawaii. The downside to taking a honeymoon in Hawaii is cost, which is relatively expensive. However, with numerous sandy beaches, hidden caves, top quality hotels, incredible food, tons of water sports, and the natural beauty of multiple islands, it is an investment worth making.

•	New York – Niagara Falls in New York is also a great choice when it comes to honeymoon destinations. This part of the country is diverse and simply beautiful. Niagara Falls is extremely impressive, which also offers special boat tours, allowing people to get a closer look. In addition to the Falls, you could take time to visit a number of restaurants, theaters, museums, and shops.

•	Florida – Another part of the United States with a tropical climate and beautiful scenery is Florida. Regardless of which coast you head to, you will find Florida to be warm, sunny, and invigorating. When it comes to honeymoon destinations, many couples flock to Florida just to spend time at the beach. However, additional and popular attractions are also great to visit to include Epcot Center, Disney World, and the Everglades.

•	Nevada – Both Las Vegas and Reno are exceptional honeymoon destinations. In Las Vegas, couples usually spend a lot of time on the strip, going to shows, visiting various casinos, and just enjoying the lights and action of the city. Reno is also a beautiful destination with shows and gambling but a little more laid back. In either case, you would have an amazing adventure and romantic time!

•	California – Napa Valley is beautiful wine country located in California where you will find many wonderful accommodations. This environment is almost surreal, providing you and your new spouse an opportunity to unwind, take tours of wineries, and just relax. Making up Napa Valley are six quaint towns with charming restaurants and shops, as well as spas for some much-needed downtime.

•	New Jersey – A great option associated with honeymoon destinations is Atlantic City. With pristine beaches and a four-mile boardwalk, you can stroll along hand-in-hand in a romantic setting. Atlantic City also offers casinos but if you want to escape to a quieter venue, the area is dotted with small restaurants and adorable bed and breakfast inns.

•	Colorado – One of the premier honeymoon destinations for people that love the outdoors, and those who prefer more time of seclusion, consider Aspen. Nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, you could travel to Aspen in the winter to enjoy incredible skiing or take your honeymoon any time of year to appreciate the magnificent natural beauty. While there, some of the favorite things to do include white water rafting, hot air balloon rides, horseback riding in the mountains, or simply retreating to your hotel for a couples massage.

Spending vacation time with family members is extremely important. In addition to creating bonding time, family vacations also provide experiences that will be treasured for life. Unfortunately, many families never take vacation due to financial limitations but as you will discover, affordable family vacations are possible. Over the years, we have seen a huge decline in the family structure, which is why getting away for some relaxation together is vital to overall well-being.

1.	Off Season – An excellent way to enjoy affordable family vacations is to go during off-season months. Typically, people travel during the spring and summertime when the weather is warm and children are out of school. However, by planning a family vacation during the fall or winter, you can easily save 30% to 50%! For instance, while the kids are out of school for break, a trip would be ideal. A great example would be heading to Branson, Missouri during the fall. At this time of year, the leaves on the trees change to red, yellow, and orange, which is simply gorgeous. In addition, the cost to rent a cabin is dramatically reduced, saving you money.

2.	Off the Beaten Path – Another way to enjoy affordable family vacations is by choosing destinations off the beaten path. The interesting fact is that savings could be as much as 70%. Within the United States are many interesting towns where you could explore and learn new cultures. For example, you might consider taking a vacation to an Amish community, finding affordable accommodations while having the chance to learn about the culture and find some incredible shops with homemade merchandise.

3.	Internet – You will also find all kinds of affordable family vacations by using the power of the internet. Often, the most challenging aspect of saving money is finding the best deals. With the internet, you have access to thousands and thousands of destinations where you can scour for the best bargain. This means you save on hotels, car rental, and even airline travel. Additionally, the internet is a great place to locate vacations created specifically for families.

4.	Flexibility – Often, the best deals for affordable family vacations comes from your flexibility. You will find that many online travel agencies have special deals on cruises, vacation packages, hotels, and so on, but require that you travel within a strict timeframe. As you can imagine, this type of savings opportunity would be perfect for families with smaller children not yet in school. A great example would be finding a hotel room for $75 a night where the normal price would be $200.

5.	Driving Destinations – For some reason, many people believe the best vacations are far from home. In truth, regardless of where you live, you can be sure there are multiple destinations within hour’s drive from where you live that would provide an excellent adventure for the entire family. Again, you can use the internet to research nearby destinations, choosing something that would be fun but also affordable.

6.	All-Inclusive – Another excellent option for affordable family vacations is to consider all-inclusive packages. By all-inclusive, this means the whole family would stay in a hotel or at a resort, which includes the sleeping accommodations, meals, beverages, and transportation. In fact, it is common to find all-inclusive vacation packages that also cover airfare.

More and more, we see best friends planning vacation time together. This time away from life’s busy schedules is perfect, while creating an opportunity for the friendship to grow. The key to success is choosing a destination that you can both agree on and then planning ahead of time. We have pulled some great information together for you so your next vacation with best a best friend will be everything you imagined.

•	Destination – As mentioned, you will need to decide where you want to go. Since you are already best friends, chances are you share many common interests. The two of you may want to find a sunny beach on which to soak up the sun, do something adventurous such as white water rafting, or head to a luxury resort where you will be pampered.

•	Planning – Good planning for a vacation of best friends will not only make the trip easier but also less expensive. Typically, doing research online will let you see what types of discounts or special vacation packages exist for the chosen destination. For instance, if the two of you have decided to take a five-day cruise, online websites will allow you to compare pricing, choosing the best for your budget, but also the cruise that caters to what you like. If the two of you were single, then perhaps a single cruise would work.

•	Accommodations – As best friends, there is no reason the two of you cannot share a room, which would save tremendous money. Most hotels allow you to choose from one queen or two double beds for the same price. With the money saved, you would have more opportunities for eating out, shopping, going to shows, or taking in some of the local nightlife.

•	Safety – Especially if the two of you are women, you need to consider safety as a part of your vacation planning. After all, you want your vacation for best friends to be fun, adventurous, relaxing, and most importantly, safe. This means staying in hotels that have a reputation for onsite security, sticking together when you go out, and always carrying a cell phone. Simple decisions such as these could have huge benefits if you were ever to find yourself in a compromising situation.

•	Expenses – One of the benefits of taking a vacation with a best friend is that the expenses are split. Of course, if you were to go shopping, you would each be responsible for purchases made but overall, the cost of the airfare, hotel, car rental, and even activities would be shared. With this, you can choose a nice destination for a much lower cost.

Most of all, remember that you are best friends. Sadly, some vacations with best friends have turned into a disaster. To ensure this does not happen to you, talk about things important to you ahead of time. That way, silly arguments will not crop up, potentially ruining the entire vacation. After all, a successful vacation will provide you with a lifetime of memories while presenting the possibility for future vacations together.

Each year, more than 50,000,000 people travel to the United States from points around the world. This inbound travel is dispersed across urban centers, national parks, beaches, vineyards, entertainment capitals, and homes of historic landmarks.

According to Travel + Leisure’s 2007 readers’ survey, two U.S. cities were among the world’s Top 10 Favorites: New York (6) and San Francisco (9). Representing the nation’s coasts, these cities are perennial favorites thanks to their world-renown reputations for being hubs of culture, arts and entertainment, history, style, and cuisine.

New York City
Comprised of five boroughs, New York City truly has everything one could imagine, and to experience it in-person leaves an indelible mark. From Times Square to Broadway to the corner deli, your digital camera will be full within hours upon arrival. It’s no wonder that this city, once known as New Amsterdam, is regarded by many to be the capital of the world. A lofty title to live up to, but NYC does so with ease. Musts include a ride on the subway, a visit to the Museum of Modern Art, and catching a musical matinee.

San Francisco
As for San Francisco, this relatively small city offers travelers an urban vibe mixed with a very earth-friendly sensibility. As the city strives to be the greenest in America, you as the traveler will find this influence in most everything you do. What’s more, there’s a lot to see. From the Golden Gate Bridge to Alcatraz to Golden Gate Park, from North Beach to Haight-Ashbury, you can experience it all in a few days, with the hope that you had yet a few more to spend. Indeed, the City by the Bay may only be 7×7 miles, but it packs a punch!

The American City
As NYC and San Francisco prove, America’s cities are a diverse group, offering travelers a unique experience. Whether you’re looking for history (Charleston, SC) or fun in the sun (San Diego, CA), groundbreaking architecture (Chicago, IL), paradise (Lihue, Kauai), or Shakespeare (Ashland, OR), the United States has it to offer.

Looking for entertainment capitals? Then look no further than Los Angeles and Las Vegas. These two cities, like those aforementioned, rely heavily on tourism. As a result, travelers benefit from their efforts to stay current, relevant, and accommodating.

Parks, Landmarks, and More
In addition to the country’s famed and beloved cities, there are also the specific draws that they have, such as national parks, beaches, and landmarks. As music fans flock to Cleveland, OH, or perhaps Elvis’s Graceland, other travelers may choose to visit Orlando or Anaheim to experience the magic of Disney World and Land.

At the same time, nature lovers make annual sojourns to Yosemite and Yellowstone, while sports fans make yearly trips to popular venues, such as Augusta National, the chosen arena for the Final Four, and the stadium hosting the Super Bowl.

The Bottom Line
Traveling in America is a true thrill, one that locals and visitors alike aim to take on with abandon. This is a country where the Painted Desert exists along with Wall Street. Where small-town charm meets big-city panache.

In the end, perhaps the most difficult choice is choosing your destination. Among those that are popular, there are just as many that are lesser-known, but just as beloved. Find your path and have a blast!

The Origin:
The sight of a Ferris wheel turning against a horizon backdrop is just one of the many romantic and charming views that amusement parks offer. These designated spaces of fun and recreation have been around since the 16th century (Europe), but for the United States, they’re more so associated with the 19th and the famed world’s fair.

Evolving from fairs and the smaller-scale carnival, amusement parks have always offered a combination of rides and attractions, suitable for kids, teenagers, and adults alike. In the U.S., old-school amusement parks for the most part have evolved into theme parks centered around a particular theme, like Disneyland or Busch Gardens Europe.

A throwback to the old amusement parks though is Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York, which still features classic rides like Wonder Wheel and The Cyclone roller coaster. This is where Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs were first served. Where the Parachute Jump debuted. And where skeet ball still rules.

Similar to the setting of Coney Island’s beach was San Francisco’s now-closed Playland-at-the-Beach, in operation until 1972. Though the amusement park began as a collection of separate seaside attractions, it came together under the collective name Playland in 1926. There, patrons would enjoy typical rides and attractions, including a Ferris wheel (of course) and Shoot-the-Chutes.

Today, visitors to San Francisco can still visit the old grounds, right by the Cliff House. And though not part of Playland any longer, some of the park’s preserved attractions can still be enjoyed, like the carousel (now at Zeum) and Musee Mecanique (now on the waterfront).

Parks Today:
Still a must-see not only for its fun, but its history, Coney Island is one of the few true amusement parks still operating today. As said though, most amusement parks have evolved into theme parks. The concept of providing family entertainment via rides and attractions remains, but now, the real lure is the theme. Most amusement parks today are best known by their individual ones:

•	Disneyland Park
Since opening on July 17, 1955, more than 500 million people have visited this theme park devoted to making dreams come true. Dubbed “the happiest place on earth,” Disneyland aims to impress the child in us all with its eight magical lands.

•	Walt Disney World
Opened in 1971, this theme park is also a major vacation resort that draws more visitors per year than any resort in the world. This is where the Magic Kingdom (and Cinderella’s Castle) resides, as well as the space-themed Epcot Center, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.

•	SeaWorld
The theme of this adventure park is marine life and at its three U.S. parks, SeaWorld combines animal attractions with a variety of thrill rides. Locations include Orlando, San Diego, and San Antonio.

•	Universal Studios Theme Parks
A major movie studio, Universal Studios also operates a number of theme parks centered around its film archive. These parks (Hollywood and Orlando in the U.S.) feature rides and attractions that highlight classic films like E.T., as well as box-office hits like Jurassic Park.

•	Busch Gardens
Operated by Busch Entertainment Corporation, Busch Gardens refers to two specific theme parks: Busch Gardens Africa in Tampa, Florida, and Busch Gardens Europe in Williamsburg, Virginia. Each park explores the continent for which it is named.

•	Six Flags Parks
Also in the amusement-park business is Six Flags, Inc., which operates the largest chain of amusement and theme parks in the world. For the most part, Six Flags parks are mid-sized and more suitable for day trips than actual vacations. They include general-theme parks, such as Great America, as well as more specific themed versions like Six Flags Discovery Kingdom or Six Flags White Water.

Bottom Line:
In addition to these, you can also add dozens more like Knott’s Berry Farm, Legoland, or Riverview Park. In short, your choices are many. Stepping back though and taking a look at them collectively, it’s clear that whatever their size or theme, amusement parks continue to possess a charm that travelers can’t resist. Indeed, even as they evolve, they remain constant in their aim: to offer thrills, games, and great memories – all in one.
