Nice blog… if I may add for flights that bizarrely some agents can beat all the price checkers.

I like skyscanner as you can easily check for cheapest dates. But my agent always beats the price for BA and Bulgaria Air…

This is all true but obviously there are a few disadvantages to off season travel especially that there are very few people around and the weather may not be too good. We travelled to Tuscany off season during our honeymoon and did get a fantastic suite for the price of a room but there was little to do see and do outside of the hotel and very few other guests. Personally I like to travel on the cusp of the season – either just before or just after peak. Then you get the best of both worlds including slightly cheaper rates and less people but enough going on to keep busy.

Some great ideas here, although one has to remember that sometimes there are peak seasons for a specific reason. I recently got a great deal to Thailand, but decided not to go, when I found out that it would be monsoon season! I would have probably had to stay indoors most of the holiday!

Another option is to travel by motorcoach. Many tour operators and motorcoach companies have packaged tours that are quite affordable, and are a “greener” way to travel. Of course, there are no buses to Jamaica, so you might want to select a tour destination on the same continent you’re on!
