Costa Rica, bordered by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the east-southeast, is a favorite vacation hot spot for many travelers.

If you are planning an you might find that traveling to Costa Rica can be relatively costly compared to its nearby countries, but you still have a number of options to cut your costs.

Locating cheap airfares online is one of the best ways to trim cost to this popular Caribbean coast. If you’ll perform a little research online you can quickly discover a number of travel companies and air operators that sell cheap airfare to Costa Rica.

Recently we were able to locate a number of great deals on the popular travel sites, hotwire.com, expedia.com and travelocity.com.

One other technique you can use to cut your costs is to trim your local transport costs. Bus is the favorite and the best means of travel in Costa Rica. You should have an easy time locating local bus service, which provide everyday routes to almost all the towns in Costa Rica.

Taxis and cheap rental cars are available also. But these options might cost you a little more cash. Booking your room with one of the many local budget hotels in Costa Rica will also help you to save some money.

Hotel Mi Tierra, Coconut House, Posada Aeropuerto Inn, Hotel Royal Limon, Hotel La Pampa, Hotel Isla Verde, Hotel Capital, and Hotel Kangaroo are just a few of the budget hotels in the area.
You can obtain some highly flexible rates with these hotels, ranging from $20 to $35 per day.

Don’t forget to look into booking vacation rentals, which can often times be cheaper than the hotels.

You could live in Costa Rica on $800 a month. I was there for three months back last Fall and I came back for the months of Jan. and Feb. to get out of the cold weather in Asheville.

You can rent a house here for $350 a month and that covers EVERYTHING – rent, lights, Internet. There is no heat or AC required.

You can get bar-b-q ribs or a steak with a salad, desert and a big platter of food for $2.80 which covers the tax and the tip.

A beer is a dollar. You can ride the bus anywhere in Costa Rica for pennys. It cost $0.42 to go about five miles and about $1 an hour for longer trips.

Saving money on food can be easy if you eat from the family-run restaurants called sodas. The cost of a full meal usually is in the neighborhood of $3 to $6.

Costa Rica is a BEAUTIFUL country and a great vacation destination!
