Locating dirt cheap airline tickets
December 27, 2007 by warren707
Whenever I think about dirt cheap airline tickets, George Hobica comes to mind right away.
George is what you would call an airfare detective!
The long-time travel journalist created Airfare Watchdog, a new travel Web site, which has quickly become a favorite destination of travelers which publishes sometimes rock-bottom, unadvertised airfares.
Airfare Watchdog is not just your ordinary fare lists and discount service mainly because they include discounts air carriers usually don’t share with third-party booking engines like Travelocity or Orbitz.
The site works with a staff of researchers who, according to Hobica, “hand select” cheap fares and personally test them for real value and seat availability.
Other airfare discount sites depend on technology alone, so in the long haul, their fares may not be the most affordable deal. A lot of Watchdog fares are good for travel up to at least 330 days in the future.
Another cool option is that travelers are not required to book directly from the Web site. The primary mission is to locate dirt cheap airline tickets for the site’s visitors.
With that said, if an airline’s own site has the lowest fare; Airfarewatchdog.com will send users to that site.
One of the popular features on the site is the route map section, which compiles more than 80 official airline route maps, the largest collection on the Internet.
