Travel Cheaply Using the Right Company
October 14, 2008 by warren707
Competition between online travel agencies is greater than ever before. With people watching budgets due to the current economy, online companies are offering better discounts on travel than ever before. You can find dirt cheap airline tickets simply by using the right company. Interestingly, the differences in rate from one company to the next are usually substantial, which is why comparison-shopping is so crucial. The following are some excellent and reputable websites where you can travel cheaply while still getting exactly what you want.
• Independent Traveler (http://www.independenttraveler.com) – If you want to find some of the best discount airlines, those that provide excellent service but at a significantly reduced rate then check out Independent Traveler. Most people are able to secure airfare for much less than any other website.
• Expedia (www.expedia.com) – Expedia is considered one of the best online services, providing great prices for airlines, hotels, rental cars, vacation packages, cruises, and more. Because of this, people who want to travel cheaply will often check out the latest offerings found at Expedia.
• Orbitz (www.orbitz.com) – A tough competitor of Expedia, you find most of the same services. This company is able to save travelers significant money by working deals directly on their end, followed by passing the savings on to the traveler. This means you save but are not sacrificing quality or safety.
• Travelocity (www.travelocity.com) – This too is a great website for people who want to travel cheaply. Travelocity is a full service company that also offers vacation packages, hotel, car rental, cruises, and even last minute deals for people who want or need to travel without paying a fortune. You will have the opportunity to check flight status, look through destination guides, and more.
• Hotwire (www.hotwire.com) – This travel website is different from any other in that you have no idea the airline you would be flying on, the hotel where you would stay, or the rental car company from where you would get the car. To give you the best possible price, this information is hidden. The great thing about Hotwire is that you are guaranteed no less than four-star accommodations. Therefore, while the actual flight, hotel, and car are covert, after you book, you would be given the information and not be disappointed. Using unsold inventory, to include empty seats on flights, low booked or empty hotels, and unrented cars at huge savings, allows you to save.
• Priceline (www.priceline.com) – This too is a unique way to travel cheaply. With Priceline, you name your price, which is then accepted or rejected. For instance, if you want to stay in a five-star hotel that usually costs $300 a night then you could start your bidding at $100 or less. If the date of your travel coordinates with a time when the hotel is undersold, they could easily accept the low bid. However, you might negotiate several times but always get a nice discount.
As you can see, the possibilities to travel cheaply are tremendous. Of course, these sites mentioned are just some of the better known but there are many others to consider. Doing your research is the key to booking a trip but one at a nice, discounted price.

Now everyone is talking about the American economy and eclections, nice to read something different. Eugene
you are absolutely right, it pays to shop around especially in the current economic climate and there are lots of websites that specialize in discount offers and travel is no exception.
Kayak is another excellent option with prices probably consistently better than some of those listed above.
Hi
Nice blog… if I may add for flights that bizarrely some agents can beat all the price checkers.
I like skyscanner as you can easily check for cheapest dates. But my agent always beats the price for BA and Bulgaria Air…
hope this helps,
Lance
